North Andover, MA.-- Merrimack Softball split their first home MAAC action this afternoon as they took game one by a score of 7-1 before falling in game two 7-2 on a sunny and clear Friday afternoon at Warrior Diamond.
Game 1: Merrimack grabbed the lead in the second inning as
Eva Issitt laid down a perfect bunt, with her speed forcing a Peacocks error that scored two, the Warriors would score their third run of the inning on another error, scoring Issitt.
Saint Peter's would push across their lone run of game one in the third, but Merrimack get it right back as
Gabby Kaduson smacked a home run over the left field wall to make the lead three again and the Warriors would break the game open as
Ellen Hubbard tripled, scoring
Madi Gibeault and Hubbard would score herself on a
Thiana Brito single. The Warriors would add one more run in the sixth as Brito scored on a wild pitch.
Game 2: The Peacocks would jump out a lead in the top half of the first, but Merrimack would even the score back up in the bottom half as
Gabby Kaduson would score
Ellen Hubbard with a single. The Warriors would take the lead in the third with a groundout RBI by
Madeline Arvai.
Saint Peter's would tie the game in the fifth and scoring the go ahead and eventual game winning run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly. The Peacocks would pull away in the seventh as they pushed across four runs to take the victory in game two.
