Worcester, M.A.— Merrimack Softball competed to the end but were unable to come away with the win, falling by a score of 2-1 to the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders on Wednesday afternoon.
Holy Cross would score the game's first run on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and they would hold that lead until the sixth inning despite being no hit by
Sofia Palyan for the first four innings of play. With hits hard to come by, it would be
Madison Cerpa who hit her second home run in as many day's to the game at one in the sixth. Holy Cross however who re-take the lead in the bottom of the inning and retire the side in order to collect the victory.
Notes and Numbers:
- Madison Cerpa's home run was her eighth of the season, which also moves her into eighth all time on the single season home run list.
- Sofia Palyan struck out six batters over six innings in the loss.
- Sam Russalesi had the other hit for Merrimack.
