Lubbock, T.X.—Merrimack Softball fell to the UTEP Miners and the Texas Tech Red Raiders by scores of 14-2 and 18-2 on Saturday afternoon.
GAME 1: Madison Cerpa put the Warriors up in the first inning with a two run homer after an
Ellen Hubbard double. Cerpa's home run was her second of the season. UTEP tied the game in the third and took the lead in the fourth. The Miners added a sixth run in the fifth inning and scored seven runs in the seventh.
GAME 2: Like game one, Merrimack opened the contest scoring twice as
Sydney Samuel singled to left, scoring
Ellen Hubbard,
Thiana Brito would then reach on an error and
Madeline Arvai would score in the process for their second run of the inning. The Red Raiders would take the lead with four runs in the bottom half of the first before scoring 11 in the second and three more in the third. The game would end in the fifth inning.
Up Next: Merrimack will wrap up play in the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic against UTEP tomorrow at 11 AM EST.
