BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Merrimack College Baseball team was unable to come away with a win in their final game of their NEC series with Sacred Heart.
Score: Merrimack 4, Sacred Heart 6
Records: Merrimack (3-14, 1-5), Sacred Heart (7-10, 5-1)
Rapid Recap
The Warriors wanted to avoid a series sweep. Last weekend they were able to salvage the series with a Sunday win over Coppin State. They wanted to do the same against the Pioneers on the road. After not scoring in the first,
Brayden Ryan came out to start for the Warriors. He gave up two runs in the first along with 3 hits.
Christian Gemelli would have a major response to that with a solo shot to deep center field to get Merrimack on the board in the second inning. The Pioneers would score twice more in the second and added another in third to take a 5-1 lead. After
Alex Haba scored on an error in the fourth it would be 5-2. Sacred Heart had one more cross home plate in the fifth and it would be 6-2. There would be no scoring until the 8th inning when
Dawson Bryce hit a bomb to cut the Pioneer lead to just three. No more runs were scored on either side the rest of the 8th inning. In the ninth
Jacob Albert got aboard and
Hayden Bond would score him on a double with just one out. Unfortunately, Merrimack would be unable to string together anymore hits and it would end as a 6-4 game.
