NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack softball team battled through a makeup contest at Wagner at the start of their midweek road trip, falling in extra innings to Wagner on Wednesday afternoon.

Scoring Plays
- Dominant pitching from both starters marked limited offensive totals from both teams. Merrimack's first hit of the day came on a single to center by Ellen Hubbard, which moved Jenna Wike over to second after she reached on an error at second.
- Merrimack converted their run for the afternoon in the top of the second. Leading off, Madie Fornwalt walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. Courtney Lanpher squared up in the box with a double to left center to score Fornwalt to give a lead.
- After trading outs, Wagner tied the game in the fifth. A leadoff single to center was moved over on a sac bunt, with a grounder to advance to third—coming in to score on a passed ball.
- The Warriors looked to return serve with a pair of hits in the top of the sixth. Jenna Wike singled to left field and Fornwalt singled to left, with both runners getting left on. The offense looked to grab a lead once the game ticked into extras. In the top of the eighth, Nicole Koshes dropped a single to shallow right to lead off the inning, with a grounder by Wike bringing her to second. Ellen Hubbard drove a long single to left to put runners on the corners before Hubbard took second on a pitch in the dirt. The Wagner defense shut down any chance for Merrimack to take a lead before the Seahawks got to bat to try and walk it off.
- Wagner worked with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, starting off with a hit by pitch as fog began to settle on the field. A double advanced the runner to third, putting two in scoring position before a walk loaded the bases as a wild pitch brought in the runner from third for the win.
