Rece Poulin joined the Merrimack College Sports Performance staff in May of 2025 as
the Assistant Director of Sports Performance. Poulin oversees Merrimack’s Men’s Ice
Hockey, Women’s Basketball, and Women’s Lacrosse Sports Performance.
Poulin was a graduate fellow at Merrimack during the 2024-2025 academic year where
he graduated with a Master’s in Exercise and Sports Science. During his fellowship, he
oversaw sports performance programs for Men’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Volleyball, and
Women’s Lacrosse. After graduating with his master’s, Poulin was awarded the Lance
Vermeil Award from the CSCCa. This award was instituted in memory of Lance Vermeil,
who was an extremely qualified and dedicated young strength and conditioning coach.
CSCCa-approved mentors submit nomination letters of students, interns, or part-time
strength coaches on their staff who have shown high commitment to a career in the field
at the college and/or professional level and have demonstrated tremendous potential for
this unique profession.
Before arriving at Merrimack, Poulin was an intern with Liberty University Sports
Performance and worked in the private sector for D1 Training Dr. Phillips. Originally
from Hampden, Maine, Poulin played junior hockey before attending Liberty University,
where he played ice hockey and earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with
a concentration in Strength and Conditioning.
Poulin is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association
(SCCC), National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), and is CPR/AED
certified through Heartsaver.
