North Andover, MA.— Merrimack Softball celebrated their graduating class of 2024 with a come from behind walkoff 3-2 victory over the LIU Sharks on Sunday afternoon.
Prior to the game, the team celebrated the careers of seniors #26
Hannah Scarano and #42
Madison Cerpa and Graduate Students, #13
Courtney Lanpher and #21
Madie Fornwalt.
The Warriors were hitting the ball hard from the first pitch and after a deep flyout,
Thiana Brito would lead off the third inning with a wallscraping home run to put the Warriors on top.
The Sharks would tie the game with a home run in the fourth inning and they would take the lead in the fifth on an RBI double.
In the seventh,
Thiana Brito would draw a one out lead off walk and
Courtney Lanpher would smash an RBI double into right center field scoring Brito from first and Lanpher would advance to third on the throw.
Ellen Hubbard would complete the comeback with sacrifice fly to left, scoring Lanpher to capture the win.
