Softball Earns Split with Central Connecticut State Powered by Fornwalt's Dominating No Hitter

North Andover, MA- The Merrimack Women's Softball team picked up the doubleheader split in their two games against Central Connecticut State, falling 3-2 in game one, and picking up a 2-0 win in game two, after a Madie Fornwalt no hitter.
 
GAME 1: The Blue Devils got on the board first in the second inning, after a bases loaded walk however starting pitcher Bry Michitson would get out of trouble striking out one and rolling a groundout to leave the bases loaded with only the lone run scoring.
The Warriors however would re tie the game up at one with a run of their own as Hannah Scarano scored Sydney Samuel on a sacrifice fly, the Warriors however like the Blue Devils would also end the inning with the bases loaded.
The Blue Devils would retake the lead third inning with a solo home run and would score another run in the fifth with an RBI single.
The Warriors would cut the lead back to one again in the bottom of the fifth with their second sacrifice fly of the afternoon as Sydney Samuel scored Alex Miller, but the Warriors were unable to tie the game from there as Central Connecticut State took game one.
 
 
 
GAME 2: Madie Fornwalt started the game off well on the mound as she struck out five of the first ten  hitters she faced. In the fourth inning, Alex Miller kept the Blue Devils off of the hit column with two fantastic catches in deep left field including a catch right near the wall. The Warriors would grab the lead an inning later as Sam Russalesi reached on a walk and would score later in the inning on an Ellen Hubbard double, one batter later Courtney Lanpher would score Hubbard with an RBI single. With Fornwalt locked in on the mound that's all the run support the Warriors would need as they capture the win in game two.
 

• Madie Fornwalt pitched all seven innings, striking out eight hitters and recording her first career no hitter.

The Warriors will finish their series with Central Connecticut State Blue Devils tomorrow with the third and final game of the set, first pitch is set for 12 PM.
