Baltimore, MD- The Merrimack Women's Softball team were defeated by the Morgan State Bears and the Cornell Big Red by scores of 12-4 and 8-2 in their two games in the Retriever Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Morgan State scored six runs in the first inning before adding three more in the next two innings.
The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of third as
Courtney Lanpher scored
Ellen Hubbard with a double and then scored herself on a wild pitch.
In the fourth Morgan State scored two more, before Madison Scarano scored
Madie Fornwalt with a double, the Warriors would add one more in the fifth as
Madison Cerpa continued to hit the ball well, scoring Hubbard with a single, but the Warriors would fall short in game one.

The Warriors jumped out to a lead in game two, when
Ellen Hubbard was credited with a steal of home to score the games first run.
Cornell would score three runs in the bottom half of the first, and would five more runs over the next three innings.
Merrimack scored their second and final run when
Alex Miller would score on a wild pitch.

Ellen Hubbard got two hits in the game and scored a run.
Lanpher, Scarano, and Miller also got hits.
Bry Michititson went four innings of relief allowing no earned runs.
