WARRIOR WOMEN EARN RECOGNITION IN NATIONAL RANKINGS THIS WEEK
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Coming off a second-place finish at the Codfish Bowl this past weekend and finishing no lower than third in any race so far this season, the Merrimack College women's cross country team has seen those efforts recognized in the form of a berth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rankings, as unveiled this week.
The Warriors are now receiving votes (3) in the national polls and stand at No. 31 in the country. The only other East Region school in the national rankings besides Merrimack is Stonehill, sitting at No. 22. The Warriors lead Seton Hill, UC San Diego and Missouri Southern in the receiving votes category.
After starting the season with a third-place finish at the Shacklette Invitational, the Warriors have followed that up with dominant performances in recent weeks; first, Merrimack emerged victorious at the Kirsh Cross Country Cup on Sept. 14 and most recently finished second at the Codfish Bowl Invitational on Sept. 28.
Merrimack will return to action this weekend when it partakes in its annual Alumni Meet on campus before prepping for the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 12.
