NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Four women’s cross country student-athletes, along with the women’s cross-country team as a whole, were named Academic All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Julie Binney (South Easton, MA), Christine Fisher (Mansfield Center, CT), Jennifer Richard (Wendell, MA) and Katelyn Meagher (Mansfield, MA) each were among the 286 student-athletes given Academic All-American honors. Meagher was a Northeast-10 All-Conference and All-Academic honoree this year as well. Fisher boasted a GPA of a perfect 4.0 during her freshman season.
The women’s cross country team, led by head coach Chris Cameron, was one of seven Northeast-10 schools named to the team. To be named to the squad, a school must have recorded a team cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or above and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship. This year’s Merrimack squad has a 3.35 team GPA.
Merrimack finished its season seventh in the Northeast-10 and sixth at the NCAA Regional Championships.
