Womens Cross Country Selected Eighth in Championship Poll

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - The Merrimack women's cross country team was selected to finish eighth at the Northeast-10 Championship this Sunday hosted by Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT.
Led by Katelyn Meagher (Mansfield, MA) and Jennifer Richard (Wendell, MA), the Warriors will battle the other 15 Northeast-10 teams, led by Stonehill, who was picked to win the meet with 249 overall votes, including 10 first-place nods.
The women's five-kilometer meet follows the men's race at 11 a.m.
UMass Lowell received five first-place votes and were selected to finish second (232 points), followed by Adelphi University with 212 points. The Panthers received the remaining first-place vote. The College of Saint Rose is picked to finish fourth with 193 points, while Bentley University rounds out the top five after edging out Southern Connecticut by one vote. The Falcons received 184 points while the Owls picked up 183. Le Moyne was seventh, followed by Merrimack eighth with 146 points.
Last year, UMass Lowell claimed both the men's and women's team championship titles. It marked the third straight title for the River Hawk's men's team and the first title for the women's team since 2005.
