Meagher, Doherty Lead Merrimack at New England Championships

BOSTON, MA – Katelyn Meagher (Mansfield,
MA) led the Merrimack’s women’s cross country
team to a 40th place finish, while John Doherty
(Chelmsford, MA) recorded the men’s cross country
team’s best time at the New England Championships
Saturday.
Meagher was 175th overall in a time of 20:14. Jennifer
Richard (Wendell, MA) was Merrimack’s second-best
runner, placing 216th in 20:51.
Brown captured the overall team event, while Boston College
finished second. The Warriors were seventh among the Northeast-10
schools.
Due to illness, the men had just four runners, with Doherty
placing 245th in a time of 27:37, and Chris Lawrence
(Peabody, MA) finishing 269th in 28:23 in the varsity
race.
UMass Lowell captured the overall team event, while UMass Amherst
placed second. Merrimack did not have enough runners to place as a
team.
Merrimack hosts its annual alumni meet next Saturday, beginning at
10 a.m. at the Volpe Complex.
