Sheehan Named NE-10 Player, Stuhr Tabbed Setter/Rookie of the Week


NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Junior Stephanie Sheehan (Smithtown, N.Y.) and freshman Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) of the Merrimack College women's volleyball team were selected for top honors by the Northeast-10 Conference earlier today.

Sheehan received the Northeast-10 Player of the Week selection, while Stuhr was named Northeast-10 Setter and Rookie of the Week. Both helped the Warriors improve to 3-7 on the season and go 2-1 on the week with victories against Saint Anselm and Post University.

Sheehan led the way for the Warriors after averaging 4.7 kills and 2.3 digs per set. She finished with 48 kills and 23 digs on the week, including a 16-kill, 11-dig performance against Saint Anselm on Tuesday.

Stuhr averaged 10.7 assists and 3.1 digs per set over the span of the week. The rookie posted double-doubles in two of the three matches. Against Saint Anselm, she notched 38 assists and 10 digs. During the weekend tri-match, she totaled 30 assists and 14 digs in Merrimack's victory against Post, allowing her to lay claim to her first-ever weekly conference honor.

The Warriors return to action tonight for an away match against Southern New Hampshire starting at 7 p.m.
