Women’s Volleyball Faces Post University on Friday, Dowling on Saturday

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team is coming off a thrilling, 3-1, victory over Saint Anselm on Tuesday night. The Warriors host the Eagles from Post University on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Navy and Gold host the Dowling College Golden Lions at 3 p.m.

The Warriors dropped the first frame, 25-19 to the Hawks. The Navy and Gold battled back taking set two, 25-20. In the third set, Merrimack sealed the frame, 25-21. The Warriors strung together and shut the door on the Hawks at 25-20.

Junior outside hitter Stephanie Sheehan (Smithtown, N.Y), she tallied 15 kills with a .256-hitting percentage, 11 digs, and two blocks as she improved her double-double total to two this season. Freshman Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) added her third double-double of the year with 38 assist and 11 digs. Junior Madison Burke (San Jose, Calif.) dug 16 balls on the night and senior Jackie Jones (Amherst, N.H.) managed eight kills.

    • Jenna Reilly, Shaunda Forcier, and Stephanie each collect 12 digs a piece.
    • Brianna Trabucco collected 44 assists on the day.
    • Merrimack held a 45-39 dig advantage over Dowling.
    • Merrimack had a team-hitting percentage of .324.
    • Burke tallied 18 digs.

2011-12 Season against the Eagles

    • Sheehan collected her third double-double of the year on 13 kills and 10 digs.
    • Warriors tallied 20.5 team blocks.
    • Merrimack forced 35 Post errors, 21 on attacks, while the Warriors hit .463 overall for the match.
    • Post held a 12-8 advantage in aces.
    • Post recorded a hitting percentage of .111 for the match.

The Warriors:

  • Overall record of 2-6
  • Stephanie Sheehan leads the team and the Northeast-10 with 100 kills.
  • The team averages 10.98 kills and 10.52 assists per game.
  • Tara Stuhr leads the team with 247 assists (9.15 a/set).

  • Senior Emily Wilman currently leads the CACC with 3.88 kills per set.

  • Jessica Kalbfleisch leads the team with 56 kills and a 3.29 kill per set.
  • Kayla Dilman leads the team with 98 assists and 6.13 assists per set.
