MERRIMACK NEARLY COMPLETES RALLY FROM 2-0 DEFICIT, FALLS IN FIVE SETS

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought, five-set non-conference battle to Bentley, 3-2, on Wednesday night at the Dana Athletic Center.

How It Happened
The Warriors started out slowly and fell behind in the match by a set after Bentley took the opening frame, 25-13. The hosts again built a big lead in the second stanza but Merrimack managed to pull within two points before the Falcons closed the door, taking the second set, 25-23.
But Bentley's lead was short-lived, as Merrimack battled back to win the third set, 25-21. Off their big third-set victory, the Warriors kept the momentum rolling into the fourth set, which they won in thrilling fashion, 26-24, to tie the match at two sets apiece.
But the home side rebounded well in the final frame, winning the fifth set in convincing fashion, 15-4, to close out the match.
Outside hitter Stephanie Sheehan (Smithtown, N.Y.) registered a double-double with 28 kills and 13 digs to lead the Warriors, while Jocelyn McLain (Fort Collins, Colo.) tallied nine kills and three digs. Freshman Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) recorded her second double-double of her young career with 48 assists and 12 digs, and finally, Madison Burke (San Jose, Calif.) posted a season-high 32 digs.
