Women’s Volleyball Inks Two to National Letters of Intent
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women's volleyball team has signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the class of 2016.
"After being at the top part of the conference on the offensive side of the ball last year and on the bottom of the defensive side, we aggressively searched for two players to fill the void," said head coach TJ Hajjar. "We ended up finding two girls who I truly believe will help push this program to the next level. These two girls will be the back bone together for our defense for the next four years."
In 2011 the Warriors finished with a 5-22 overall record and a 2-13 conference mark in the first year under the guidance of Hajjar. The 2011 Warriors were the youngest team in the country as they had only one senior, Nicole Duarte (Windham, NH). Merrimack will return six freshman, one sophomore and three juniors to next year's squad. Despite their record the Warriors still ranked in the top half of the conference on the offensive side of the ball. All-Rookie team member Stephanie Sheehan (Smithtown, NY) will look to lead a young Merrimack team to a better record in 2012.
