Volleyball Falls 3-1 at Saint Anselm
Manchester, NH – The Merrimack volleyball team was downed on Tuesday night at Saint Anselm 3-1. The loss drops the Warriors to 4-21 (1-12) on the season.
Game scores against Saint Anselm: 22-25, 25-15, 11-25, 22-25.
"We played pretty well tonight besides the third set," said head coach TJ Hajjar. "Offensively the errors in key spots killed us tonight. We allowed them to answer our leads with too many runs tonight."
The third set was dominated by the Hawks throughout as they won the set by the score of 25-11. Saint Anselm used a 8-0 run to end the set with the victory.
Merrimack played the Hawks very tight in the final set but they were unable to break through with the victory as they were downed 25-22. Merrimack started out the set up 5-1 but a late 6-0 run by the Hawks handed the Warriors a loss.
The Hawks were given strong performances by Charlotte Tencza who had a match-high 11 kills and five digs. Natalie Steinwart racked up 31 assists and seven digs for the Hawks in the victory as well.
Merrimack (4-21, 1-12 NE-10) will return home for its final two games of the season on Friday and Saturday. The match Friday is at 4 p.m. and the match on Saturday will be at 1 p.m. and is also senior day for the team.
