Women’s Track & Field, Briana Devereaux Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Highlighted by rising senior Briana Devereaux (Londonderry, N.H.) earning a spot on the 2012-13 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team, the Merrimack women's track & field team saw its success in the classroom pay off as the Warriors were named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

Devereaux, who played a key role as a member of the Warriors' distance team this winter and spring, helped Merrimack post a progam-best eighth-place finish in the Northeast-10 Outdoor Championships this spring after finishing ninth in the Indoor Championships. The Londonderry, N.H., native finished with a GPA of 3.36 on the year, joining a total of 384 women from 92 different schools on the All-Academic Team.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.

Meanwhile, the team itself was excellent both on the track and in the classroom, earning a team-wide GPA of 3.26, joining 92 different institutions on the all-academic list. Those schools earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
