Women’s track and Field Prepares for the Northeast-10 Championships Starting Friday
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women's track and field team is set for the 2012 Northeast-10 Outdoor Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State in New Haven, CT. The NE-10 Championships are a two-day event.
The Warriors have a couple of athletes participating in field events during day one of the NE-10 Championships as Janelle Clark (Springfield, Mass.) will partake in the long jump event as she qualified with a jump of 4.72 meters. Freshman Ashley Wright (Somersworth, NH) qualified for two events on Friday, high jump and javelin throw. Wright qualified in the high jump with a jump of 1.47 meters and in the javelin throw with a toss of 33.84 meters.
The Warriors had four runners qualify for the 100 meter dash for Friday as Nichole Hicks (Plymouth, Mass.), Leah Hall (Lynn, Mass.), Mary Murphy (Boxborough, Mass.) and Desiree DeLeon (Salem, Mass.) each recorded a time to qualify for the event.
In the final event of the day, Merrimack will have two runners participating as Rebecca Ainscow (Derry, NH) and Fiona Coleman (Windsor, CT) both qualified for the 10,000 meter run.
