LOWELL, MA – The Merrimack women's track and field team competed on Saturday afternoon at the George Davis Invitational held at the Cushing Field Complex.
The Warriors had three runners compete in the 200 meter dash on Saturday with all four recording personal best times. Freshman Christine Manfra (Stoneham, Mass.) broke a school record with her time of 27.30 seconds while Desiree DeLeon (Salem, Mass.) and Mary Murphy (Boxborough, Mass.) both picked up fourth place finishes in their heat.
In the 100 meter dash DeLeon picked up a personal best time of 13.40 seconds while picking up the 29th place finish. Murphy and Leah Hall (Lynn, Mass.) finished right behind DeLeon finishing in 13.49 seconds and 13.85 seconds respectively.
Manfra was the only Warrior to compete in the 400 meter hurdles and she recorded a 12th place finish in a time of 1:09.14. Anne Bajor (Methuen, Mass.) continued her strong early season performances with a 10th place finish in the 3,000 meter run in a time of 10:28.43.
The Warriors had two runners compete in the 5,000 meter run as Kayla Morong (Topsham, ME) finished in 12th place in a time of 19:54.00 and Andrea Chapa-Cerviatti (Worcester, Mass.) finished in 14th place in a time of 20:06.41.
Manfra, Hall, DeLeon and Murphy took home an 8th place finish in the 4x100 meter relay in a school record time of 52.29 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Ashley Wright (Somersworth, NH) took home a 13th place finish in the high jump as she had a best jump of 1.45 meters. Janelle Clark (Springfield, Mass.) continued her steady play with a 5th place finish in the triple jump event with a school record jump of 10.45 meters. Clark also recorded a long jump of 4.53 meters and good for a 28th place finish.
Next up Merrimack will compete in the Sky Hawk Invite on Saturday April 14.
