Women’s Track and Field Takes Part in Snowflake Classic at Tufts
MEDFORD, MA – The Merrimack women's track team competed in the Snowflake Classic on Saturday afternoon at Tufts University.
The Warriors relay team of Julie Binney (South Easton, Mass.), Desiree DeLeon (Salem, Mass.), Kayla Morong (Topsham, ME) and Christine Manfra (Stoneham, Mass.) took home a ninth place finish in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:23.52.
In the 100 meter dash, Mary Murphy (Boxborough, Mass.) was the highest finisher for the Warriors as she took 22nd place in a time of 13.80 seconds. In the 200 meter dash Manfra finished in 18th place in a time of 28.00 seconds. DeLeon finished the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:03.36 which was good for 20th place.
Morong finished the 1,500 meter race in a time of 5:07.98 which was good for a 24th place finish. Andrea Chapa-Cerviatti (Worcester, Mass.) finished in 27th place in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 20:06.41.
Janelle Clark (Springfield, Mass.) was the highest finisher in the long jump competition for the Warriors, jumping 4.49 meters which was good for 15th place. In the triple jump Clarke took home a fourth place finish as she jumped 10.08 meters for the Warriors.
The Warriors will be action on April 7 as they will take part in the George Davis Invite.
