LOWELL, MA – The Merrimack women's outdoor track and field team finished eighth of 11 teams at the Northeast-10 Championships in its first-ever season of competition.
Merrimack earned a total of 26 points, 16 behind Bentley for sixth place. Southern Connecticut won the NE-10 title, with New Haven second and UMass Lowell third.
Freshman Briana Devereaux (Londonderry, NH) was the top rookie in the 1500 meters by more than 23 seconds, finishing fourth in the 1500 meters in 4:51.97, earning five points for her team.
Anne Bajor (Methuen, MA) placed eighth in the 5000 meters in 19:10.95 and was fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase, earning six points for her team on the day. Ashley Sarris (Shelton, CT) was sixth in the steeplechase, picking up three points.
The 4x100 relay team of Rachel Lozeau (Nashua, NH), Kayla Morong (Topsham, ME), Andrea Chapa-Cerviatti, and Bailey DeNisco placed seventh in 55.92, getting two points for their efforts, while the 4x400 relay team of Sarris, Morong, Chapa-Cerviatti, and Devereaux was seventh overall. The 4x800 relay team of Bajor, Julie Binney (South Easton, MA), Morong and Devereaux rounded out Saturday's top-eight finishers with a fifth-place finish.
The Merrimack women's track team earned four points on day one of the Northeast-10 Championships, tying with Lowell and Pace for eighth place.
Earning one more point than they did in the Indoor Track and Field Championships, Caitlin Kasala-Halinan (Worcester, MA) and Rebecca Ainscow (Derry, NH) finished seventh and eighth in the 10,000 meters, earning three combined points.
Lozeau placed eighth in the javelin in 31.89 meters, also earning one point for the Warriors.
