CAMBRIDGE, MA – Led by five qualifications for the Northeast-10 Championship, the Merrimack women's track team raced to a 10th place finish at the Snowflake Invitational Saturday.
The women now have 11 qualifications on the season for the NE-10 Championships.
Four qualified in the 5000 meter, led by Rebecca Ainscow (Derry, NH), who was sixth overall in 19:18.77 racing to a personal-best. Ashley Sarris (Shelton, CT), Caitlin Kasala-Hallinan (Worcester, MA), and Ashley Bock (Sutton, MA) also posted strong performances, placing 10th, 11th and 16th respectively.
Bailey DeNisco (Peabody, MA) also jumped her way to the NE-10 Championship, placing seventh in the triple jump, while barely missing qualifying in the long jump with a 15th place finish in 4.3 meters.
Merrimack's 4x400 relay team of Anne Bajor (Methuen, MA), Julie Binney (South Easton, MA), Andrea Chapa-Cerviatti (Holden, MA) and Brianna Devereaux (Londonderry, NH) placed third in a time of 4:10.17.
Bajor (eighth, personal best) and Devereaux (17th) raced to strong finishes in the 1500 meters, while Rachel Lozeau (Nashua, NH) took sixth in the javelin at 27.68 meters.
Merrimack will compete in the Husky Invitational on April 16 in Boston.
