Inaugural Indoor Track Season at Merrimack Opens With Harvard Open
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- The Merrimack men's and women's indoor track teams are set to embark on the first-ever season of indoor track at Merrimack College. The Warriors open up the 2010-11 slate at the Harvard Open December 11. The meet will be held at the Gordon Indoor Track on the campus of Harvard University with action getting underway at 9 p.m.
Merrimack will compete at the Tufts Invite January 15 before taking part in the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational January 23. The Warriors will close out the month of January with the Boston University Mini-Meet January 28-29.
The Valentine Invite February 11-12 will prep Merrimack for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships February 17. The Warriors will conclude the inaugural season at the New England Championships February 25.
The Warriors will be led by first-year head coach Matt Pimentel and will only compete in the distance events.
Brendan Mormile (West Haven, Conn.) will serve as the captain of the men's team while Rebecca Ainscow (Derry, N.H.), Ashley Bock (Sutton, Mass.) and Caitlin Kasala-Hallinan (Worcester, Mass.) will skipper the women's squad.
Merrimack added indoor and outdoor track at the end of the 2009-10 year, increasing the number of intercollegiate athletic teams from 16 to 20.
