NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Seeking its first Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season title, the Merrimack College women's tennis team hosts Stonehill College in a NE-10 Conference showdown on Saturday, April 12 at North Andover High School.

Merrimack claimed an 8-1 win over Northeast-10 foe Bentley University Sunday, April 6, in Waltham, Mass.

The Warriors' top pair Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) prevailed, 8-2, against Yamus and Gianino. Kara Hole (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Chealsey Giatrelis earned an 8-2 victory over Petrini and Hetyei. Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) and Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, N.H.) captured an 8-3 win at the third slot.

Merrimack captured five singles wins to seal the Northeast-10 conference victory.

Grace Messina earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 slot. Bentley's Catherine Gianino gave Shakee Messina a run in the No. 2 match, but prevailed 7-6, 7-5. Giatrelis defeated Brittani Hetyei by the score of 6-4, 6-3 while Hole won 6-1, 6-4 against Melanie Scott.

In the no. 5 singles slot, Muller earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Rachel Petrini. Bentley took the No. 6 singles match, 6-3, 6-1.

  • In singles rankings, G. Messina is No. 18 in the region while posting a 12-5 overall with an 11-4 dual mark.
  • The Warriors hold a 64-42 (.604) overall record with a 60-30 dual match mark.
  • In doubles rankings, G. Messina/S. Messina are No. 5 in the region and Hole/Giatrelis are No. 8 in the region.

Scouting the Stonehill Skyhawks

  • Stonehill ranks ninth in the East Regional rankings.
  • In singles, Kirsti Toegemann ranks 20th in the East Regional rankings while posting a 5-9 overall mark in singles.
  • In doubles, Toegemann and Bailey Paradiso ranks ninth in the East regional rankings as well as hold a 6-2 record in No. 1 doubles.
  • In NE-10 action, the Skyhawks are 56-10 in singles and 29-4 in doubles.
