Women's Tennis Wraps Up Conference Slate With 9-0 Loss At Stonehill

NORTH EASTON, MA – The Merrimack women's tennis team concluded their conference schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 loss at Stonehill. With the loss, the Warriors decline to 7-12 overall and 6-6 in conference play.

The Warriors 6-6 conference mark was not enough to qualify for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships next week.

The Skyhawks took the 3-0 lead after doubles action on Saturday. In no. 2 doubles, Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) and Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, Mass.) were defeated by the score of 8-2 while in no. 1 doubles, the duo of Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) were downed 8-1. The third duo of Tiana Dame (Wachusett, Mass.) and Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) also were defeated by the score of 8-1.

In singles action, Fitzgerald gave the best effort as she was downed in no. 4 action by the score of 6-4, 6-2 while Muller was defeated by the same score. In no. 2 singles play, Hole was downed by her opponent by the score of 6-1, 6-4 while Dame lost 6-1, 6-1.

Merrimack will wrap up their season on Sunday as they play host to Hartford at 10 a.m.
