Women's Tennis Downs Conference Foe AIC, 7-2

SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Merrimack women's tennis team won their second straight conference match over the AIC Yellow Jackets by the score of 7-2 on Friday afternoon. With the win, Merrimack is now 6-11 overall and 6-5 in conference play.

In no. 5 and no. 6 singles, the Warriors dominated as Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) and Erin McMahon (Wilmington, Mass.) each won their matches by the score of 6-0, 6-0. Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, Mass.) and Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) were both impressive in their singles victories while Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) won her match in three sets by the score of 2-6, 6-4, 11-9.

The Warriors won two of thtree doubles matches en route to their second straight win on Friday. The duo of Veasey and Tiana Dame (Wachusett, Mass.) dominated their match by the score of 8-0. The veteran duo of Hole and Fitzgerald also played well, downing their opponents by the score of 8-2.

Merrimack will return to action tomorrow as they will travel to Stonehill for a conference match with the Skyhawks at 11 am.
