Women's Tennis Upended By Southern New Hampshire, 9-0

MANCHESTER, NH – The Merrimack women's tennis team was defeated on Saturday afternoon by conference foe Southern New Hampshire by the score of 9-0. With the loss, Merrimack is now 4-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

In no. 1 singles action, Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) made her opponent fight in order to pick up the point as she pushed the game to three sets, eventually falling 3-6, 6-1 and 10-6. In No. 3 singles play, Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) played well but was defeated by Amanda Albuquerque by the score of 6-2, 6-4.

The duo of Messina and Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, RI) was not able to give the Warriors a point in no. 1 doubles, falling 8-1. Muller and Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) were also defeated by the same 8-1 score in no. 3 doubles play.

The Warriors will return to the courts on Sunday, April 7 as they will play host to conference foe Adelphi at 12 pm.
