Women’s Tennis Set to Face #45 Southern NH in Northeast-10 Quarters Wednesday

After earning the No. 6 seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, the Merrimack women's tennis will hit the road to take on third-seeded #45 Southern New Hampshire in the quarterfinals Wednesday, April 18.

The Warriors posted a 9-13 overall record and finished the regular season with an 8-5 mark in league matches. The Penmen enter the postseason sporting a 15-5 record on the year after claiming a share of the Northeast-10 Regular Season Title with a 12-1 conference mark.

Merrimack is led by four-time Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela). Messina owns a 16-6 singles record on the season, playing primarily at the No. 1 position.

Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, MA), Courtney Garvey (Woburn, MA) and Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) have all racked up 11 victories in singles action during the 2011-12 campaign.

In his first year at the helm, head coach Sean Tully guided the Warriors their fifth-straight trip to the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. Last spring, Merrimack fell 5-1 at Adelphi in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament.

The Warriors suffered an 8-0 loss at home to Southern NH earlier this season.
