Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Roberts Wesleyan, 7-2

NIAGARA FALLS, NY- The Merrimack women's tennis team captured its second-straight victory with a 7-2 decision over Roberts Wesleyan Saturday at Niagara University. The Warriors improve to 3-1 on the season with the win.

Merrimack gripped to a 2-1 lead at the start of singles play. The Warriors' top duo of Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) and Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) eked out an 8-6 victory. Erin McMahon (Wilmington, MA) and Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) teamed up to earn an 8-4 win at the No. 3 position.

Messina triumphed 8-6 at the No. 1 singles slot for Merrimack. Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, NH) claimed an 8-6 victory at the third singles match. Kylie Waddington (South Glastonbury, CT) cruised to an 8-0 result at the No. 4 spot. McMahon earned an 8-4 win at the fifth singles slot while Veasey prevailed 8-1 in the sixth position.

"We performed well today and earned another win. All six singles positions turned in great efforts," said head coach Sean Tully.

The Warriors remain in upstate New York and will face the host, Niagara, tomorrow October 9.
