Women’s Tennis Falls to Otterbein 8-1

ORLANDO, Fla.- The Merrimack women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Otterbein Thursday morning. The Warriors sink to 4-6 on the season to close out their trip to the Sunshine State.

The tandem of Kara Hole (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, Mass.) claimed Merrimack's lone victory on the day. The pair edged the Cardinals' Kylie Hammons and Brooke Trine 7-5 in a tiebreaker to earn a 9-8 win at the No. 2 position. Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Courtney Garvey (Woburn, Mass.) fell 8-1 at the top spot while Heather Kent and Erin McMahon (Wilmington, Mass.) also lost 8-1 at the No. 3 slot.

Otterbein earned six wins in singles action to earn the 8-1 victory. Barnes dropped a third-set tiebreaker 10-6 at the No. 3 position after taking the first set 6-3 and falling in the second 6-4.

The Warriors return to Northeast-10 Conference action March 31 as they travel to take on American International.
