Women’s Tennis Selected to First-Ever NCAA Tournament

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women’s tennis team was selected to its first-ever NCAA Tournament Wednesday, earning the seventh seed in the east region.

After posting a 10-8 record and finishing in fifth place in the Northeast-10, the Warriors will head to Stonehill College to take on the second-seed Skyhawks on either May 7 or 8. The times of the matches are to be announced.

If the Warriors win, they will play the winner of #6 Saint Michael’s and #3 Queens College.

The other half of the regions matches up Concordia with Philadelphia and Bentley with Southern New Hampshire.

Five Warriors were named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference team last Sunday, including Christina Lucin (Wesley Chapel, FL), who was named to the second-team singles in the #2 position and first team doubles in the #2 slot. Lucin was 12-3 in #2 singles this season and teamed with Stellina Saia (Wakefield, MA) in doubles to go 6-3. Saia was an all-conference selection for doubles. Amanda Carroll (Tewksbury, MA) earned third-team honors at #3 singles. Carroll totaled a 12-2 record in #3 singles.
