|Title:||Asst. Women's Soccer Coach (GK)|
Former Warrior Karen (Kieser) Guilmet ('99) concluded her third year on Gabe Mejaíl's coaching staff in the fall of 2014, serving as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach and Goalkeepers Coach.
Guilmet, a former two-year starting goalkeeper for the Merrimack women's soccer team, brings nearly a decade of coaching experience to her alma mater and will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers.
Her most recent coaching post was at Connally High School in Pflugerville, Texas, where she spent nearly three years (Nov. 2010 through Aug. 2013) as a varsity girls' soccer assistant coach/goalkeeper coach. There, Guilmet planned workouts designed to prepare new goalkeepers for varsity competition; taught technical and tactical skills to improve their ability to read the game, their individual skills, and their leadership on the field; and maintained motivation and focus of goalkeepers during games. She also assisted the coaching staff in coordinating goalkeepers’ and defensive players’ strategies and positioning.
Also while in Texas, Guilmet spent nearly six years as a girls' athletics coach at Westview Middle School, where her duties included organizing practices to teach fundamentals of volleyball, basketball, track, and soccer; she also prepared athletes in the off-season with strength and conditioning activities.
A 1999 graduate from Merrimack with a Bachelor's Degree in English and Political Science, Guilmet earned her Master's in Education from Texas State-San Marcos in August of 2005.
The former Warrior now teaches at Arlington Middle School in Lawrence, Mass., and currently resides in Haverhill, Mass., with her husband, John, and their two daughters – Katy and Elise.
