BRIDGEPORT, CT- Senior Jessica Peacock (Hopedale, MA) of the Merrimack women's soccer team has been tabbed to the 2011 Daktronics All-Region first team after earning second team honors a year ago.
Peacock started all 22 matches on defense for the Warriors this season. She notched three goals and three assists to finish with nine points on the year. Her lone game-winner came in the final regular season contest of the season, a free kick from 40 yards out against Stonehill.
Peacock anchored Merrimack's backline which held opponents to 1.10 goals per game in 2011. She was named the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year as well as earning a spot on the Northeast-10 All-Conference first team for the second-consecutive season.
The Warriors posted a 16-4-2 overall record this fall and went 11-2-1 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Merrimack earned the No. 2 seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament for the second-straight year. With wins over Pace and Southern NH, the Warriors reached the title match for the first time since 2003.
Merrimack suffered a 5-1 loss at top-seeded Saint Rose in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament final.
The Warriors earned an at-large berth to their 11th NCAA Tournament, earning the third seed in the East Region bracket. Merrimack edged Holy Family 5-3 in penalty kicks in the first round after both teams netted goals in regulation.
In the East Region semifinals, the Warriors dropped a 5-0 decision at the second-seeded Golden Knights.
Peacock served as a co-captain of the Merrimack women's soccer team this season.
