NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Riding a five-game unbeaten streak into the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals, the No. 4 Merrimack women's soccer Warriors are matched against the top-seeded Golden Knights of Saint Rose on Thursday in Albany, New York at 1:00pm.

In the Conference quarterfinals, the Warriors played to a 1-1 tie with Adelphi, but by virtue of a penalty shoot-out, Merrimack advanced 5-4 in PKs when junior Elizabeth Hopley (Cromwell, CT) buried the fifth and final penalty kick.

Head coach Gabe Mejail and Merrimack look to be the first conference foe to knock off the Golden Knights in over a year (Sept. 27, 2008) when the Warriors dismantled Saint Rose on Warrior Field, 5-0.

Earlier this year, Merrimack suffered a setback on their home field to the eventual regular season champions, 4-0, when four different Golden Knights scored.

With a quarterfinal win, the women's team advances to the semifinal for the 21st time in the program's Northeast-10 Conference history. If Merrimack was to advance to the conference championship (Sunday, Nov. 8), they would travel to UMass-Lowell or #19 Franklin Pierce. The Warriors defeated UMass-Lowell 1-0 a week ago and lost to Franklin Pierce 2-1 on the road (Oct. 14)
