McGarr, Macedo Honored as First-Team All-Conference Selections; Five Warriors Named to Teams
SOUTH EASTON, MA. – Hillary McGarr (North Dighton, MA) and
Heather Macedo (New Bedford, MA) were selected to the Northeast-10
All-Conference First-Team, as announced by the Northeast-10
Conference following Sunday’s Conference Championship
match.
McGarr was second on the Warriors with 18 points (five goals, eight
assists). She finishes her Warrior career as a four-time
Northeast-10 all-star and the 2004 Rookie of the Year.
Macedo talled a goal and five assists from the sweeper position.
She was an all-conference honoree in 2006 as well.
Julie Anderson (Middletown, RI) and Gabrielle Gramprey (Brockton,
MA) were named to the second-team. Making her first appearance on
the all-conference teams, Anderson was second on Merrimack with
seven goals and 20 points, while tallying a team-high three
game-winning-goals.
Gramprey led the Warriors in goals (10), assists (9), points (29),
and shots-on-goal (36). She was an all-conference selection as a
freshman in 2006 as well.
Caitlin Hall (Westminster, MA.) was selected to the third team.
Hall posted seven goals, tied for second on the team, and 15 points
as a junior, including two goals in the 3-0 conference quarterfinal
victory over Stonehill. This is her second appearance on the
All-Conference team.
The Warriors lost the Northeast-10 Semifinal match to #3 Saint Rose
2-0 Thursday. They await Monday’s announcement at 5 p.m. on
ncaasports.com to see if they are selected to their seventh NCAA
appearance and sixth in the last seven years.
Gabriela Demoner and Angelika Johansson from Franklin Pierce were
named the Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year respectively.
Bryant’s Danielle Malta and Chris Flint were honored as the
Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, while
Assumption’s Lauren Matysiak was named the Goaltender of the
Year.
