NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – On a Wednesday evening, the Merrimack College women's lacrosse team fell to 2-10 overall on the season, as the Warriors dropped an 11-5 final to Mercy College in non-conference play at Martone-Mejail Field.

The Basics

Score:  Mercy 11, Merrimack 5
Records: Merrimack (2-10) | Mercy (6-7)
Location: Martone-Mejail Field | North Andover, Mass.

How It Happened

The Warriors got on the board in the early minutes of the contest as sophomore Shealyn Anthony (Stoneham, Mass.) tallied her 10th goal of the season off a free position shot. Just five minutes later, freshman Clare Blomberg (Wading River, N.Y.) found the back of the net off a nice pass from sophomore Aubrie Stouffer (Souderton, Pa.) to put Merrimack ahead 2-0.

However, Mercy battled back to tie the Warriors at two with 11:03 remaining in the half. Mercy continued their offensive attack and jumped ahead 6-2.

For the remainder of the half Merrimack was unable to get anything going on offense and the Mavericks held a 6-2 edge heading into halftime.

Mercy began the second half on a 2-0 run to stretch the lead out to a six-goal advantage. The goals were scored by Melissa DellaRocca and Marissa Kluber.

Soon after, Merrimack went on a 3-0 scoring run to cut the lead down to three (8-5) with 9:03 left in the game. During the run, junior Olivia Coakley (Bridgewater, Mass.) tallied two goals while sophomore Danielle Riley (West Point, N.Y.) recorded her ninth goal of the season. But, Mercy tacked on three more insurance goals to secure the 11-5 road victory.

Senior Inna Hedden (Woodbine, Md.) made nine saves in the loss, while Jillian Rocco had five stops to pick up the victory.
