Women’s Lacrosse Selected Eighth in NE-10 Preseason Poll

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack College women's lacrosse team has been selected eighth in the Northeast-10 Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll released Tuesday morning.

The Warriors finished the 2013 season posting a 5-11 overall record. The Navy and Gold had several highlights, including an overtime home win over a nationally ranked Dowling College, while also posting an impressive 5-2 record at home while wrapping up the campaign with two wins in their final three outings.

Adelphi University tallied 137 points and seven first-place votes to take the top spot in the poll. The Panthers advanced to the NCAA Championship Final Four last spring, falling to LIU Post in the national semifinals. Defending NE-10 Tournament champion Le Moyne College, was chosen to finish second in the poll. The University of New Haven (115), Stonehill College (114) and Saint Anselm (97) rounded out the top five.

Coming in at sixth is Bentley University (91), followed by Southern New Hampshire University (73) and Merrimack College (66) in seventh and eighth, respectively. Finishing the top-10 was Assumption College (65) and Franklin Pierce University (49).

Rounding out the 13-team poll was Saint Michaels (35),  American International College (19) and Southern Connecticut State University (19).

The Warriors 2014 season begins Sunday, Mar. 2, when the Warriors take on the University of Findlay at Martone-Mejail Field.
