Three Women’s Lacrosse Players Receive All-Conference Accolades

SOUTH EASTON, MA – Three Merrimack women's lacrosse student-athletes were noticed as all-conference members as announced by the league office on Thursday. Sarah Salatto (Guilford, CT) was named to the first-team defense while senior Mary Pasquantonio (Plainville, Mass.) and sophomore Olivia Huie (Norwell, Mass.) were named to the second-team.

The lone first-team member, Salatto, closed out her impressive senior season leading the team in ground balls with 42 and caused turnovers with 24. Salatto closed out the season with four goals and two assists including one game-winning goal. Her 15 draw controls was good for fifth on the team.

Pasquantonio finished off her illustrious Merrimack career scoring 20 goals and 24 points in only nine games of action due to an early season injury. Paquantonio scored three free position goals to give her 32 for her career, ranking her tied for first in school history with fellow senior Colleen Strachan (Bedford, Mass.).  For the season Pasquantonio racked up eight ground balls and forced seven turnovers. Pasquantonio leaves Merrimack as one of only eight players to ever surpass the 100 goal plateau finishing her career with 111 goals.

Huie closed out her sophomore season fourth in goals with 20 and fourth in total points with 28. Huie racked up six free position goals on only 13 attempts and also scooped up 20 ground balls, good for seventh on the team. Her 21 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers were good for third on the team.

The Warriors closed out the season with a 7-9 overall record, dropping their quarterfinal game at Stonehill on Wednesday night by the score of 15-3.
