Women's Golf Places Third at University of Illinois-Springfield Invitational


RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Junior Ali Reed (Westborough, Mass.) led the way with a fifth place overall finish after firing a score of 157 (+13), as the Merrimack College women's golf team placed third overall at the University of Illinois-Springfield Invitational.

Also playing well for the Warriors was sophomore Jaclyn Drew (Lunenberg, Mass.). Drew placed seventh overall with a score of 159 (+15) at the destination course in Puerto Rico.

How It Happened

Monday, Merrimack put itself in good position by posting a score of 326, good for third overall. Reed led the way for the Warriors as her first day score of 76 was fourth best overall.

Tuesday, it was more of the same for the navy and gold. Merrimack held its position in third with a score of 331, giving them a two-day total of 657. Senior Louise McGillivray (Banchory, Scotland) led her team on the second day with an individual score of 80.

Head Coach Nick Crovetti: "We capped off a strong fall with another solid finish this weekend. It was a great experience for the team to travel and compete in Puerto Rico."
