Ali Reed Becomes First-Ever Warrior To Qualify For Division II Women’s Golf Championships
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Merrimack women's golf sophomore Ali Reed (Westborough, Mass.) became the first Warrior in program history to qualify for the Division II Women's Golf Championships, as announced by the NCAA selection committee on Monday night.
Reed put together a great spring season for the Warriors as she led all players with an 18-hole average of 80.6 through four tournaments. Reed's best tournament in the spring came early on as she recorded a career-low 150 two-day total including a career-best 73 in the second round of the Perry Park Spring Fling.
Nine schools earned the right to compete and four individuals were picked from non-qualifying schools. Reed was selected as one of four individual golfers in the east region to represent Merrimack.
The NCAA Division II women's golf super regional competition will be conducted May 5-7 in Joliet, Ill. at the Joliet Country Club. Each super regional will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the championships.
The 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 15-18, at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
