Women's Golf Looks to Build on First Year Successes in 2012
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Women's golf head coach Nick Crovetti, who will enter his second season, announced the schedule for the 2012 golf season.
The Warriors will open up their 2012 campaign by traveling to Wellesley College for a match on September 8. Merrimack will follow that up with a trip the following weekend to Gannon on September 15.
The second year team will wrap up September with a match at Mt. Holyoke on September 22. The Warriors will conclude their fall schedule with three matches in October, the first of which at Kutztown on October 5. The final two matches will be at the Wellesley Invitational on October 13 and at Quinnipiac on October 21.
"Our second season is going to be a special one for women's golf," said Crovetti. "We have a talented incoming class comprised of three freshmen and two transfer students all with an impressive golfing background."
The Warriors will be led by a trio of returning players from last year's squad. Ali Reed (Westborough, Mass.) led the team last season with a single round stroke average of 85.2 while Lloyd Hoehle (Fullerton, Calif.) and Bethany Arnold (Wrentham, Mass.) posted single round averages of 85.3 and 88.7 respectively.
"We have three returning sophomores from last year so our expectations are higher this season," stated Crovetti. "Our main goal is to win our very first tournament and instill a winning culture in the program."
The Warriors will welcome five new players for the 2012-13 campaign, two transfer students and three incoming freshman. The transfer players are Louise McGillivray (Banchory, Scotland) who is transferring from Carson Newman and Jessica Ngui (Richardson, Texas) who is transferring from Houston Baptist.
According to the second year coach, "Our team has been practicing hard this summer and we are very excited to begin competition in September."
