POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The Merrimack women's golf team garnered three golfers in the top half of the field of 62 at the eighth annual Vassar College Invitational Sunday.
The Warriors were led by Lloyd Hoehle (Fullerton, CA) with a seventh place finish. Hoehle entered day two of the event in fourth place after shooting a first-round 83. The rookie carded an 84 on Sunday to own a combined two-day score of 167.
Ali Reed (Westborough, MA) concluded the tournament tied for 22nd with a total score of 177. Reed improved on her first-round 92 by posting an 85 in the final round of play.
Bethany Arnold (Wrentham, MA) capped off the weekend in 28th place after cutting off 12 strokes from her first-round score. After carding a 96 on day one, Arnold shot an 84 in the second round to finish with a weekend total of 180.
"I am happy for Lloyd as she posted her first career top-10 finish. She demonstrated a lot of maturity and patience to post that kind of score knowing her position after day one," said head coach Nick Crovetti. "Our team, once again, improved upon their first round scores and showed a lot of parity today. I look forward to seeing their improvement as the season continues."
Up next, Merrimack will participate in the Hartford University Invitational April 16-17.
