Women's Crew Takes First Place at New Hampshire Championships Regatta

WOMEN'S CREW CLAIMS GOLD MEDAL  AT NEW HAMPSHIRE CHAMPIONSHIPS

PEMBROKE, N.H. – After a 90-minute delay due to heavy fog, the Merrimack College women's crew team hit the water didn't look back, posting a first-place finish at the New Hampshire Championships on Sunday afternoon on the Merrimack River in Pembroke, N.H.

1) Merrimack College - 18:08.94
2) Endicott College - 19:00.92
3) Gentle Giant Rowing Club - 19:49.89

How It Happened

Merrimack College finished first in a three boat race on Sunday afternoon, leading the pack with a net time of 18:08.94 at the New Hampshire Championships Regatta.

The gold was a big improvement from last season when the Navy and Gold captured a bronze medal in the Pembroke, N.H., event. 

Merrimack's first place time was 52 seconds faster than second place Endicott College who finished with a time of 19:00.92, good for a silver medal. Rounding out the field was the Gentle Giant Rowing club with a net time of 19:49.89.

Head Coach Dave LeFebvre: "Once our women got on the water, it was all business and they were able to row a nice controlled and powerful race. They won by a comfortable 52 seconds. I was impressed with the level of maturity Merrimack displayed. It was a good day!"
