NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women's basketball team ranked 12th out of all division II schools on the annual WBCA Academic Team Honor Roll. The 12th place ranking is the highest in school history for the Warriors.
"It is a great accomplishment to see our team recognized in the Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll," said head coach Monique LeBlanc. "Performing at a high level academically was a major emphasis for our team this past year, and obviously this recognition is a credit to the hard work and focus of each of the student-athletes in our program. Not only am I proud of their performance in the classroom, but also the way in which they attacked and exceeded their academic team goals. Also the team has established a culture for academic excellence which will always be a priority of our program."
The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Divisions I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point averages (GPAs) inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
The Warriors cumulative GPA of 3.532 under first year head coach LeBlanc, was the highest ranking of any Northeast-10 Conference school. The Warriors were the lone NE-10 team inside the top 20 of the rankings.
