NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – One week removed from earning a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region First Team, senior infielder Tawny Palmieri (Peabody, Mass.) racked up another postseason accolade, earning a spot on the Daktronics All-East Region Second Team, as unveiled Wednesday morning.
Joining a list comprised of other top performers voted by school administrators from around the region, Palmieri was one of 10 representatives from the Northeast-10 Conference and represented the third baseman's spot on the all-region second team.
Palmieri led the way on offense and provided sound defense at the hot corner after moving over from shortstop t his spring. The Peabody, Mass., native led the team in every offensive category with a .432 batting average on 54 hits while tallying a team-best 31 runs.
Cracking the Daktronics All-East Region Second Team for the second time in three years, Palmieri also knocked in nine doubles, two triples and eight homers while totaling 34 RBI. The left-handed hitter posted a .728 slugging percentage on the year and owned a .510 on-base percentage and went 11-for-15 in stolen bases.
Wrapping up a fine three-year career with the program after transferring from the University of Massachusetts, Palmieri leaves Merrimack ranking in the top-10 all-time leader board in several offensive categories, including career home runs and RBI.
