Fourth Inning Fuels Softball Past Warner 4-0

CLERMONT, Fla.- The Merrimack softball team wrapped up its spring break trip to Florida with a 4-0 win over Warner Saturday at the National Training Center. The Warriors return to North Andover sporting a 5-6 record on the season.

Merrimack broke through in the fourth inning with four runs. Jaclyn Giovannini (Plano, Texas) raked a double to get things started. Alex Gallant (Salem, N.H.) followed with a single to move Giovannini to third. A single by Ashley Perry (Winchendon, Mass.) pushed Giovannini across the plate for the 1-0 advantage.

With the bases loaded in the fourth, Kieara Monet Perry (Bellingham, Mass.) reached base by way of a hit by pitch to plate the Warriors second run of the game. Tawny Palmieri (Peabody, Mass.) drove in Ashley Perry and Kieara Monet Perry with a double to finish off the scoring.

Kelli Jo Deardorff (Bedford, Mass.) led Merrimack to its third-straight win and second-consecutive shutout with a complete game performance. Deardorff struck out five batters and ran her scoreless streak to 13 innings.

The Warriors kick off Northeast-10 action March 29 as they visit St. Michael's for a doubleheader.
