Gagnon, Ellis Earn NFCA All-American Regional Honors

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Jill Gagnon (Manchester,
NH) and Kelsey Ellis (Vancouver, BC) were
named to the NFCA All-American East Region first team on
Monday.
Of the 13 players named to the first team in the East Region,
Gagnon and Ellis are two of the four representatives from the
Northeast-10, with Super Regional and Northeast-10 Champion Le
Moyne College getting the other two selections.
Gagnon, who threw two straight no-hitters including a 1-0 victory
in the Northeast-10 First Round against Southern New Hampshire,
finished third in the conference with a .411 average and was fourth
with 36 RBIs. Perhaps the best two-way player in the league, the
senior captain was third in the NE-10 with 150 strikeouts on the
mound, while compiling a 13-9 record with a 2.17 ERA and 18
complete games.
Ellis, a sophomore third baseman, was second in the conference
with a .411 average and had five homers and 27 RBIs. Her 24 steals
in 30 attempts were also second in the Northeast-10.
Both players were Northeast-10 first team selections and led the
Warriors to a 17-win improvement from 2008 and a fourth-place
finish in the conference.
By virtue of being a first-team all-region All-American, both
players will be listed on the All-American national ballot.
