Men’s Cross Country Competes at Skyhawk Relays Saturday

EASTON, MA – The Merrimack cross country team opened its season taking part in the Skyhawk Relays on Saturday.

Racing against Stonehill, Saint Anselm and the HFC Striders, each relay team was composed of three runners, who each ran two miles.

Merrimack placed ninth, 11th and 13th of 16 squads, as the relay team of John Lawrence (Peabody, MA), Harry Mullin (West Hartford, CT), and Luis Cruz (Lawrence, MA) led the way, placing ninth in 32:16.

Joey Smith (Medfield, MA), Evan Braz (Peabody, MA), and John Doherty (Chelmsford, MA) finished 11th in 32:58.

"I was very happy with our first race of the season," said head coach Chris Cameron. "We competed very well, and I am confident we will continue to improve throughout the fall."

Merrimack will compete at the Shacklette Invitational next Saturday in Manchester.
